PHO 289B - 1001 Special Topics for Photography
In this class we will explore best practices for growing our Instagram following and personal styles.
We will use strategic and creative image exercises to build our photography skills leading to extended meaningful projects.

Choose #1, #2 or #3 to follow for the summer. Tell me in the Who Are You email your choice.
#1 • Summer Semester long ASSIGNMENT: Post at least one image a day to Instagram, that is only 56 posts over the next 8 weeks. Feel free to post more than one image a day. What is the best time of day to post your image?
It is best to curate your image selections. Keep things consistent. Think about this as an account for you, the photographer.

#2 • Summer Semester Shooting Challenge. I will provide you with 3 challenges of 28 days each, choose 2 of the challenges to work for the 56 images. You could also make your own challenge shooting one concept for the 56 days or even one concept a week. But the challenge will be written down in advance of your shooting so you keep your direction clear and focused.

#3 • The Daily Documentarian, Shoot whatever interests you throughout the day. The first week will be easy then you will have made the obvious images, how to you sustain a daily practice of image making?
In addition to photographing and posting we will:
•Make a hashtag list. What Hashtags should you be using to draw new followers?
Each week we will delve deeper into hashtags, times of day to post and more, but start thinking about it now.
week 2: Monday June 11 – Sunday, June 17, 2018
