Heather Protz is an artist, educator and explorer living in Las Vegas, Nevada and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Heather’s art ranges from documentary work to large scale conceptual pieces. Heather starts all of her work out on location, photographing with any device put in her hand, from a toy camera or cell phone camera to high end digital cameras. Her vision adapts to the device and locations encountered.
Heather has a BFA from The University of Akron and an MFA from Ohio University. She has shown her fine art photography nationally and received an Ohio Arts Council Fellowship in 2001 and a Nevada Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship in 2009. Currently Heather is a professor of photography at the College of Southern Nevada. Heather’s commercial work includes photographing artwork for artists, galleries and museums, as well as architecture/trade show booths and food/drink photography.
