Color Correction Part 1

  OBJECTIVE:
•To gain a greater understanding and control over the levels and
curves adjustment layers
•To set the white point within a photograph to neutralize any color cast
•to photograph in a controlled lighting situation and make overall
color adjustments to a series of images.
•To bring out shadows and highlights within the photograph by
use of selective layer adjustments

  OVERVIEW
•7 images to be color corrected
•show all Layers
•.save as: .psd
•these will all be global corrections

 

COLOR CORRECTION USING THE EYEDROPPERS
Finding the White, Gray and/or Black point within the image to neutralize a color cast.
Use the eyedroppers in the levels dialogue box.
You will color correct the 6 images found on the website.
download the 6 images and correct.

Your white eye dropper should be set R245, G245, B245
Your midtone eye dropper
should be set R133, G133, B133
Your black eye dropper should be set R7, G7, B7

DO NOT USE BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT LAYERS

•IMAGE 1, white point may be a fooler, not the sky

•IMAGE 3, be careful of the plack point you choose. this image is noisy a noise spot will not be black

•IMAGE 4, maybe the midtone eyedropper and sliding the highlight input slider to the left?

•IMAGE 5, maybe the midtone eyedropper?

•IMAGE 7, slight change in levels,
(save this file, later you may want to try an curve S for some contrast and see what happens)
